The battery died a little while ago, thinking it was a short somewhere.

What!?  You didn't even get a year out of it!  You haven't tracked down the issue?  That seems unusual for you.

I'm having some lower back issues and do not know if I can ride for more than an hour or so. I rode to work today (about an hour) and experienced some discomfort. Have doctor's appointment next week and hopefully we can resolve this with some physical therapy. So for at least for now I guess I am out.  Angry Sad

The battery issue did not surface right away.  When I was in the process of moving in October, Versey and I took a short ride and there was a bad oil leak when we got back so I parked it.   About a month ago I tried to start it and the battery was down, so I put it on the charger, but that was a no go, it was dead.

Springman, take care of yourself.

Lancer, that sucks.  I know that battery wasn’t cheap out there in Leakey.

We’ve been getting some great spring weather down here in Houston.  This week is looking pretty awesome!  Get on your bad motor scooter and come on down!  We can ride out and get lost in the “back 40” somewhere!   Cool

Springman I'm sorry to read your starting to have them Old Man issues .  I hope they pass easy.
This is what I've been doing for that same issue for quite a few years now. :   Glucosamine Sulfare Potassium Chloride 1,000 mg.  (Walmart - Spring Valley)

Remind me to tell ya the tale of how I found out about the Glucosamine next time I see ya !

Hay Lancer , is that the REX or the BSA ?

I think I'm not mec. enough to not have a newer bike.   Even with that being said ... today I'm taking my front brake caliber apart to free-up it's" workings and put some grease on the pins that slide .   Its got that "Quick Pluse" as I slow down thing going on.  I'm not sure that "Anti-Lock Brakes" are such a good thing --- sometimes !  Roll Eyes

My 350 Meteor (350cc modern Savage clone  Smiley) is still my favorite bike at the time.    Accutulely a Savage with a 4 gallon fuel tank and 65 mpg would be ideal !   Wink

Use caution with glucosamine/chondroiton ! Some years ago I was using Joint Juice for painful knees & shoulders one a day and yeah it works and maybe I’m allergic to it but after 3 months , I was at work and had ducked down to get under a trailer when I stood up on the other side I had a visual blackout , both eyes went black. Really scary to be blind in an instant , no warning at all. I got down to one knee right where I was standing , slowly right eye came back from foggy to clear while left eye was still in blackout. Made my way into shop to inform foreman I’m done for the day , after 20 minutes vision began to return , back to normal in an hour. Thought I was having a stroke , after blood work , X-rays , magnetic resonance tests , ultra sound on my neck to check for plugged arteries ,  6 tests & blood after review all of it tests , found nothing at all. Thought maybe cause of a hangover but doctor said no , we have found absolutely nothing ! By now no lingering symptoms and thought I would go back to joint juice , bought a six pack , drank one , standing in line at a second store and bam , left eye blacked out , went to a knee expecting other eye to black out too. It was only maybe a minute later sight returned but foggy for awhile. All the same tests again and again they found nothing. Tossed 5 bottles of the stuff  and never had another visual blackout in 11 years. Really really scary to be blind  in an instant !!!

Dang Ruttly !
I'm glad you recovered !!

I may cut back to 1/2 dose per day or (just every other day) or go to the 500 mg size ?  ... but my joints don't bother me now and I like it like that .    Some times I think I need to go get an eye exam and glasses ?   but-for now,   I'm in my 70's and still getting by with just reading glasses ?

Well , Getting OLD is still better than the alternative  Smiley.

Trying to stay somewhat on topic with “2025 Rides”, here’s a little route recording of yesterday’s ride my “Bergman 650 buds”.  About 170 miles in the Houston “Back 40” including areas like Bellville, Fayetteville, Lake Fayetteville Oak Thicket Park, Round Top, Burton, Brenham and Buckhorn.  Lots of cows and horses with an adventurous unexpected detour around a major backup due to construction (who knew those “short cuts” existed?).

I just recently downloaded this app (Relive).  It’s pretty cool and easy to use.  In the analytics tab for each “activity”, it includes stuff like: miles, elevation changes, top speed, avg speed, etc.  I have the free Basic version and they want me to upgrade naggingly bad to the paid premium version where you can insert photos and do other stuff to create something like a slide show.  Best if viewed on a laptop, tablet, or desktop.
