Winter work !

Last good riding day was Saturday, so time for thinking (dreaming) about how to upgrade my bike.
Discovered that the new cast wheels for the RE 650 twins can be had for under $500/pr., both 18".
I already have a cast wheel out back, so adapting a front would be a priority, probably some machining.
$300 for a cast wheel is a gift. Buchanon cost me $550 for a spoked 18", but it's the best size for me.
Anyone see a problem?
Cheers! Cool

I feel ya on last good riding day... most depressing time of the year. I've got a list of winter work myself, it's the only good thing about winter is downtime to fix the bike without missing out on riding.

Adapting a Suzuki GS wheel is pretty easy......just need to trim down the diameter of the brake rotor.

It is a 19" wheel however.

I have the matching GS 19", my 18" steers a lot better, no understeer.
Buying the RE would be a gamble, not sure if I'm ready, End of season is dreaming time.
Cheers!  Cool

why not use the 19" and lower the front a 1/2"?

Hi: I have 'decruisered' my S40. My steps in order: 1. 12.5" shocks 2. Lowered my front end 3/4" with DC Motiv top tree. 3. Installed an 18" front wheel 4. Spanned the dip in the frame with a flat seat.
My bike is neutral steering, rather than understeering.
Very pleasant.
The reason for considering a cast front wheel is my inherent fear of a blowout. Foolish maybe, but that's me!
Cheers! Cool
ps: I bought the S40 for the 650 single, nothing else.
