I think crowd size may be an indicator for normal candidates but in Trump's case, he has a very fanatical core that follow him with cult-like passion.  They live and breathe him.  Hats, flags, bumper stickers, signs, I can't imagine what inside their homes look like
They are not normal voters
You don't see that in other crowds
More like a circus

They make the crowds but they are not typical voters
Not even typical Trump voters
They are cultists
They amount to a predictable crowd but not a winning campaign
