Hello from washington
07/25/24 at 22:06:33

It's been 30 yrs since I've been on a bike. Well I bought a 03 savage that's been bobbed. I'm in the process of getting  Kissmy motorcycle endorsement so it gives me time to get the bike street legal as it didn't have a rear fender or any rear lights. It needed a quieter muffler (I live in a trailer park 55+) the wires were just jammed under the seat. I'm got a new springer seat as the old one didn't have springs. I've searched the forums for some of the things I need help with but a lot of the threads have lost the pics. Anyway. Just wanted to say hi.

Well, Howdy,
A stock Savage is quiet. The twelve pound chrome trashcan muffler handles the strangulation with ease.
You Did manage to buy a bike that has a very active forum with members who know more about it than the dealers. Whatever you run into, odds of getting help here are really good.

Clicking "Choose File" goes strait to my pictures and inside the pictures - to the last picture folder I used .

Maybe Mac users don't have life so easy ?
So
How do other folks post pictures ?  Huh

Is there different versions of the Savage Page ?   I would do a screen shot for ya but I don't know how ...  Embarrassed

Michael, I have an iPhone and when I’ve chosen a file photo as described it does not move a photo from my phones photos section.
That is a long ago photo from the Dragons “Tree of Shame”.

The very first Dragon ride was in 2004 with myself, Ed-L, Oldfeller and Toymaker, and we were bunking at Toymakers as well.  On our way to the Dragon Ed-L didn’t make a turn and he and his bike did a complete flip into a bank and bent up pegs, shifter, mirror and left a decent size piece of a panel there.  It could not be reused so it went up into a tree right there.  Ed was roughed a good bit up but no permanent damage thankfully.
Gosh, that was 20 years ago.  Time flies.

And

Lord help ya if ya slip off the seat and land on that tire while it's spinning  ... OCH !!!    Huh Embarrassed   Huh Huh Embarrassed

Not to even mention the water off the road ?
.............................

Hay Lancer , I never met Ed .   Do you know who those other fellers are ?  Everyone knows Versey .
I'm planning to meet Dave and Stew over there next week for a few days.

That's why I put a rear fender on it. It has handle bar risers and a different set of bars. I'll take pics tomorrow

Makes me wonder why the guy who bobbed it decided to sell. It Looks kinda cool, but YaKnow, they Call them FENDers for a reason.
fend
[fend]
verb
(fend for oneself)
look after and provide for oneself, without any help from others.

Protect and care for yourself,, Fend off an attack.

If cars didn't come with seatbelts that would be the first thing people added.
And if bikes came without fenders,do the math..

I would wear long sleeves even if I had no thoughts of protecting myself in a crash. The feel of road grit is just nasty.
Back to the guy who bobbed it..
Pure speculation,, but my guess is
He had a mental image of what riding it like that would be and the Actual experience was a lot less pleasant than the image in his mind. Probably someone who had very little experience with general mechanic work and getting it bobbed was a stretch for him. He just didn't want to do the work to undo it.
His dreams of having that Then Came Bronson moment died at the first puddle.

I think we all spend a time in life that puts us in the "Some folks just have a Ruff Time in Life" bracket  !   Some folks just spend more time getting through that bracket ...   Wink
