Brake bleeding
07/17/24 at 07:01:48

So, I replaced my fluid the other week. I went to bleed the brakes, that classic pump pump hold, open, close, release.

When holding the lever after pumping the brake and opening the line, the lever sinks to the bar..... I don't remember this being normal. Is this normal?

Thanks sero -- I just want to be clear about what I'm asking -- the brake isn't sinking now that it's back together, it was only sinking while holding it and opening the line to let the air out, then kept pressure after closing the line.

It does feel bad right now though, as in poor lever response, but I will bleed again.

Yes, that is normal.   When you open the line, there is nothing for the lever to push against.. so it goes all the way to the bar.
The less air in the line, the firmer it will feel as you pump the lever.. but it will still go to the bar when you open the valve.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Thanks guys. This is the third time I've replaced this fluid and for some reason I just could not recall that happening in the past. Another reason to stop drinking I suppose.

A good trick that I always do after bleeding the brakes is strap down the brake handle to the grip with a strap for overnight
