Cam chain

I am in need of some wrench therapy before I go crazy. Looking for a project to take my mind off things for a bit and need to address the cam chain. So I am looking for a guide video. What have you got?
I know I can count on you guys to steer me in the right direction.

All I found was one guy who proved in the first 30 seconds he had no clue. And a bunch of tensioner mod videos. I was 11 hours on the road today. I'll try again tomorrow.

I don't believe there exists a single full video of someone replacing the chain -- however this bike has two manuals the clymer and the cyclopedia. I would recommend purchasing the cyclopedia one from their website -- you get immediate online PDF access with full color photos and a step by step of the timing chain replacement.

Keep in mind this step by step recommends roving the head, which is actually not necessary from what I understand. There are a few detailed posts on the forum outlining this job, I have personally not yet had need to do it myself, but we're I to, I would essentially consult these different resources and chart my own path toward tackling it.

This is a very long detailed thread from when I recently removed the head with the motor in the frame to remove a chunk of wood from the cylinder.

While you won’t have to remove the head to replace the timing chain, there is a lot of good information and instructions on other steps in the process.  Like, which bolts to remove and not remove and order of installation, which bolts have washers, how to get the big clutch nut off, where the thrust washers go, installing the oil drive gear and pin oriented in the right direction!, checking/replacing the clutch push rod and clutch cam release, etc.

I’m pretty much a newbie at internal engine work so pardon my long and wordy questions throughout the thread.  DragBikeMike’s patience with me was remarkable!

This is about 95% of what you’ll need - just shy of replacing the actual cam chain.  And like SurvivingPhilly said, it’s helpful to have some kind of manual as another reference (I have a paper Clymer manual so I can make old school notes in the margins).

If you do the cam chain, I’d replace the rear cam chain guide and get a Verslavy cam chain tensioner while you’re at it.

The oil pump drive gear can be put on backwards,,
markk the outside before you touch it.
Draw the outline of the clutch cover on cardbord
poke a hole for each bolt
keep any washers With the bolt. Those are oil seals.
And lengths vary.
Makes going together No Puzzle..
