Armadillo gas bladder
01/22/24 at 18:59:05

Watching an unrelated video, I stumbled across an Armadillo gas bladder.
It might be hard to find an open gas station in rural areas later at night.

So, I was curious about this.

https://www.giantloopmoto.com/product/armadillo-bag-liquid-power-reservoir/

I could see adding a bit of range - but carrying around a bag of gas doesn't sound safe.

Does anyone have experience with these?

ive not used them but I do like the space versatility of using a bag.

What I do use are MSR fuel cans.

I carry one of these when I am riding with folks who have small gas tanks.  The bags on my bike are hard, so there isn't a need for an armored fuel can.  The price not only includes the fuel....it includes the container!  This likely will only get you 15 miles - maybe you need 2!

I carry the same when exploring in the hills. Haven’t needed it yet. It’s good fuel too 94 octane , got a bit of a kick too it. Usually fuel is calculated closely but you never know when an interesting side road pops up that needs to be investigated immediately ! Fits in backpack , small tank and a big piston  , hate pushing , the it’s a brilliant solution !

Dave's TruFuel is available from hardware and auto parts stores: https://trufuel50.com/where-to-buy/ and, odds are, if a store sells chain saws, they have the 2-cycle pre-mix as well. I wouldn't advise running the 2-cycle for long but I have used it in a pinch in a car that I ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

I forgot to mention i use Rotopax as well:

https://rotopax.com/collections/gasoline

Solid construction and they do not decay like the cheap ones do.

I typically use the 1.75gal Roto

I got mine at Tractor Supply.  I supplied the link as it was the easiest way to get the photo and description into the post!  (Is that being efficient....or just lazy?).

Just efficient Dave !   Wink

Back when I had the 2.7 gal tank , I put one of these in a soft tail-bag mounted on the luggage rack so it was invisible to see, then "T" into the fuel line with it , (yes ) through a in-line shut-off .   Well the tail-bag wasn't invisible  !  Roll Eyes
I found a bunch of sizes of them on Ebay .

If I ever have to Ride through Canada I might put it on whatever bike I'm taking ?   Wink
................

We were waiting on a Fairy Boat ride one time and stopped to eat near the loading ramp.
In the parking lot there was a DR650 with a fuel tank that reached down past the motor and really wide ... it was HUGE !

When we went it ... I couldn't help but as "Who's Gas Tank ?"  Smiley
The owner was used to it  Grin
I forgot if he said 11 gallons or 13 gallons ?   Anything over 10 makes my jaw drop and boggles my mind ???  Grin Grin

2 gallon tank in the tail bag. picture
