Chain conversion questions
01/05/24 at 12:44:56

Yo savages,

I've done a fair bit of research on the chain conversion -- about to jump into the project. For those who have completed this -- how have you addressed the spacing issue to get the chain aligned?

In the original thread, it looks like hutch used a second sprocket with the OD spokes cut off to achieve an OD of 40mm. Another poster used custom made spacers with OD 40MM ID 25 with a width of 6.6mm.

What have others used? I do have a shop near me willing to cut out a 40mm od off another spacer, but am curious what else has worked.

Thanks

I’ve had a chain for years without any additional spacers.
No alignment issues at all.

Mine has whatever Ryca supplied for the conversion. The longer shocks required a self fabbed tensioner. No problems , once in a while on a hard decel the chain just touches the Ryca chain guard , makes it ring. It’s an alarm , tellin me to chill out ! Grin Grin Grin
