i did not cut it because it suppose to fit it. am i wrong do i need to pick up a Sleeve Insert Shim Reducer Adapter or cut it and add the green bean can trick? am i just looking at this all wrong

You can cut a shim from soda cans, soup cans, etc.

Cut a strip that 1.5"-2" wide, and wrap it around until you have enough thickness to fill up the gap.

Works for me:
Extra heavy alum foil, muffler cement,
cut a 2" wide long strip, fold in half lengthwise, smear one half in muffler cement, fold back, wrap tightly around exhaust 2to3 times, slip on muffler and tighten clamp. Still tight, leak free, after 3 years!
Cheers!  Cool
ps: wear gloves !

If you use any muffler sealer or something like Permatex Ultra Copper (high temp), let it fully cure for at least 24 hours depending on heat and humidity.  If you don't, it will fail.  I made that mistake and it wasn't fun cleaning it up and re-doing it.
