the chain is continuous and not meant to be broken.

In a word.....
Don't.
If it decides to come from together you're gonna be hunting a motor.
How many miles on it?

Unless it's been poorly lubricate, I don't see how it could be worn out. Even with nothing but short trips. I'd do the tensioner modification and ride it.
Well, before I say that
What are you seeing that worries you?

Trip length plays into that. The explanation is tedious.
And the tensioner modification will get more out of the chain. Some people here have triple that and it's fine.

Cant find directions for removing cam chain...yes all the way through taking out cam on top engine
need directions removing cam chain sprocket
on bottom of engine to get chain out.
Special tool? What is it?
Chain removal is done by taking out the chain tensioner and cam bolts, letting the sprocket drop down a bit, removing cam.......then you get enough play to take the sprocket out of the cam chain.
You should get a Clymer manual and follow the instructions and photos.
