Once I was satisfied with the enrichment mod and float level, I proceeded to run a bunch of acceleration comparisons between the standard PWK and the e-Tube PWK.  My prior comparison was confined to 2nd gear, and there was not much difference between the two carbs.  This time around, I decided to focus on top gear acceleration comparisons.  I also wanted to see if I could detect any of that WOT surge in the standard PWK.

In 2nd gear at WOT, the standard PWK had no hint of surge.  The eTube PWK had the 2nd gear surge, and no amount of fiddling would eliminate the surge.  It doesn’t seem to hamper acceleration.  The two mixers are very close in that department.  After about 20 test pulls and numerous adjustments, the standard PWK barely edged out the e-Tube; it was about 0.01 seconds faster from 4K to 7K on the tach.  That is easily within any margin of error.   My stopwatch finger certainly isn’t responsive enough to call this a legitimate comparison.  It’s a draw in 2nd gear.

The top gear tests showed that the standard PWK was clearly the winner.  It was a solid 0.27 seconds faster from 3.5K to 5.5K.  I did a lot of pulls, there’s no doubt the standard PWK is faster.
