I actually like these better than the Bonneville T100 which is really the only modern-era Triumph I would consider.   Not as retro but I think the lines are more balanced.

While pricing has not yet been announced, Triumph says both the 2024 Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X will be attractively priced versus the key competitors in each market.

The specs show 39.5 horsepower.

That is great.....I believe 30HP is a minimum to be able to keep up with traffic on the USA highways.

The price is expected to be around $5,000.

I think the rest of the story might show up in the torque figures:

Versys 300   = 19.2 ft/lbs/10,000    40   HP.  Over 11,000 rpm
RE 350"J"     = 20   ft/lbs/  4,000     21   HP            6,100
Triumph 400 = 27.7 ft/lbs/ 6,500     39.5 HP           8,000
LS650          = 37    ft/lbs/ 3,400     31   HP            6,500

Seems odd that the one with the highest HP has the lowest torque.

Thump - Thump - Thump ...

Really , I'm thinking ---  that Triumph is going to take a chunk of the market    !
It's got some Torque and Some HP too !!

That doesn't surprise me at all.....the Kawasaki is a parallel twin and all the other engines are single cylinder.  The Kawasaki makes the HP by having 2 smaller pistons revving a bunch faster than a single.  The twin would be a better engine for highway use where you want to maintain faster cruising speeds.......riding in the curvy mountain roads would require that you shift more often than a single.  (My little Kawasaki 250 required you to shift down 2 gears whenever you came out of a tight uphill corner in the mountains - but it could go 80mph on the interstate all day long).

I think we are amidst a thumper renaissance , what was old is new , again. If your rode a thumper as a youngster it is very likely you will revert back to a thumper as you age. Most have other bike(s) too. Twins are fun but thumpers are satisfying , can’t explain the difference. I’m hard into the Thumper side of camp. Come on BSA get with the plan ! The longer BSA takes the smaller their market share is becoming. Triumph just stole BSA’s
USA market , brilliant time to release the new thumpers.Very attractive bikes , if price point is a value they will sell a ton of those bikes. Getting the new thumpers to USA market before BSA , could be huge for Triumph and possibly crippling for BSA ! Snooze you loose !

Just saw it in the pic , right there in my face !
The Triumph single is going to be a great , yup you guessed it
One badas$ flat tracker !

Close your eyes an imagine some fiber glass bodywork on it with 19” hoops
Some real sexy shapes and lines.

This bike should sell real well.  Cool

Honda will miss out on market share too by not importing the GB350 !  Undecided

Let’s hope Triumph isn’t dangling a carrot like BSA has been for years.
Can they deliver ? To the US market ? RE  with good bikes at a good price.
Can they , will they try to compete in that same market , I think it would be great timing ( sooner the better ) for Triumph. I’m not gettin excited till the local dealer has a few on the floor. I noticed the tail section of the frame is a bolt on , what ever you want. Road racer , flat tracker , standard , just make a new tail section for the bodywork. I like that feature.

Hay Zip , you are Soooo lucky ... now that your of the right age all these small and LIght (Old Man) Thumpers are showing up. !!!   Smiley

How LUCKY CAN WE GET  ???  Wink

The RE 350 "J" has a "Performance Cam" now that kicks the power level up about 20% , an air filter system 5% , exaust 5% , and a fuel modular thing 5-10% , Torque and HP numbers both.   Makes it a different bike from what I understand ...  Huh     It's already Torque rich for a air cooled 350 single.

Honda is going to have to bring the CB350 air cooled single to the USA now too !  It's even prettier than the Meteor is !!  Wink

Mag wheels, inverted forks, monoshock, and water cooling remove these bikes from the "Retro" category.   But the "Retro" seat and tank have an allure.

I think the frame is a little more traditional as well.
