Yeah, you're right it's not a touring bike. But there are plenty of riders here that have used them as such.
And I don't know if you could even say I'm going on a tour. . . .more of an adventure.
It's not an adventure bike either!

I guess I just want to ride the Savage on a long trip~

Just thought someone may have put one on in their travels.
If not I guess I'll venture off into internet land & see if I can find a viable solution.

Here is the throttle lock I put on my Savage. It connects on the bar between the front master & the kill/start button & on the existing throttle grip.
Push lever down & it locks. It doesn't lock hard enough so you can't roll back the throttle while it's engaged.
Haven't used it much as I'm doing upgrades on the bike currently. I've used it some tho & it seems to work ok.
After the trip I'll know for sure.

But I would like it better if there was something on the market that when you squeeze your front brake hard, your trottle closes automatically.

I think that would prevent a lot of accidents.

Because sometimes it happens that by squeezing your front brake, that your wrist can no longer move and that your trottle therefore remains open.
(In an In an emergency situation)

Oh, believe me, they make such a cruise control gizmo. but you'll have to hock the title for your bike to pay for it. . . .well maybe not but it is expensive.
I only plan on using it out on the open roads out west. I am not comfortable even using it around home. Too many trees. Too many deer.
I only plan to use it when my hand gets fatigued anyway.

My BMW has something akin to it on it. I think it was a factory thing built right into the hand throttle.

I installed a throttle lock on one of my bikes. It is one that is a weighted bar end that goes into the end of the handlebars - you twist the end to tighten or release it. (I believe the internal bar weights on the Savage would prevent it from being installed with the stock handlebars). These throttle locks might be useful on flat interstate highways - it is a bit worthless on the hilly roads in KY where I live. I set it at 60mph on a flat area, and the bike goes 40mph up the hill and 80mph down the other side!

I use the Crampbuster instead. It really does take the effort out of holding the throttle open. When you want to use it you just roll it around to where it contacts your palm.....when you don't want it you roll it around so that is doesn't touch your palm. It is the best comfort item I have bought for $12.

It works well enough for short periods, but if you are riding with other riders you are always falling behind or catching up. I really only use mine when solo riding. Saves your wrist after a couple of hundred miles.
