Or,maybe he should have just shrugged and taken the loss. But that wouldn't guarantee the thug wouldn't shoot him as soon as he had his loot.

Earth is a better place.

Good thing that guy was armed. He eliminated an armed criminal. If I was the mayor I'd be pinning a medal on that guys chest on the courthouse steps with total media coverage.

One thing I wish more organizations would cover in situations like this is how to appear as the victim once you discharge your weapon.

You can see here where the victim raises his gun again, which is to be expected, at the end of the video maybe because he thought there was another threat.  Overall though he kept the weapon down.

At that point, had somebody else been carrying a firearm and responded when they heard the shots, they might assume the victim is the criminal.  I've seen hundreds of firearm drills work out this way, the victim is shot by a second person with a firearm that assess the situation incorrectly.

Yeah, that can happen. I would hope that as the percentage of people carrying increases people will be more aware that the Bad Guys aren't the majority of armed people.
Nothing is perfect. The More honest citizens armed the more likely shooters will die quickly, which will dissuade some of them. People wearing seatbelt get killed. Life is messy. America has been going the wrong way on carrying for decades. What could be more idiotic than pretending someone who has decided to murder people encounters A SIGN that says No Guns Allowed will just turn around and go home?
On the way to Commit MURDER, dissuaded by a Sign that says no guns.
I don't know how to measure stupid of such high quality and excessive volume.

Mediocre Regards

I've still never heard anyone make the argument that a sign will stop a murder.  The signs aren't to protect against criminals it's to inform law abiding citizens they can not carry there.

Not that does not mean I am pro-sign and want every gun on the planet banned and the CDC should be trusted.  It means I have never had this conversation, and due to my work I have had hundreds and hundreds, that resulted in any organization stating they are using signs as a deterrent for crime.  The signs are informative for willing participants.

Ahhh, so the signs were Not to affect the number of school shootings. They were just an announcement that nobody would shoot back. I did not see your new argument made by anyone else here while I was excoriating the signs for so long.nor from you.

Actually I did say on here that I have never heard the argument that signs will stop murders before.

I've never heard anyone say they think a criminal will not kill people if there is a no gun sign.

So when it is pointed out that,
"...so the signs were Not to affect the number of school shootings.
They were just an announcement that nobody would shoot back. ..."

The answer is,
"...The signs aren't to protect against criminals
it's to inform law abiding citizens they can not carry there..."

To a logical person,
the, 'sign's, DO protect the criminal,
because they now know,
NO ONE will shoot back !

Ben Franklin once said: "If you give up a freedom, for the sake of security, you will have neither".
Which is More TRUE, today, than yesterday.('06, S-40, Stock) well, mostly .

Exactly.  This is the argument to make against no gun signs instead of trying to convince some humans that other humans think signs stop crime.

The problem is signs invite crime.
