School shooting
10/24/22 at 10:51:41

School shooting here in St. Louis. It’s early yet but sounds like eight shot, two died. The police, unlike in Texas, rushed into the building heard the shots and immediately ran upstairs confronting the shooter and killed him.

I’ve been inside that school many times. It’s a different name now but they were my high school’s main rival.

We know a girl that goes to that school but she’s in an advanced program and was at a local community college today.

It’s early and our news media is going crazy and making all kinds of ridiculous statements that aren’t supported by facts but the bottom the one fact that we know is the shooter was in his 20s which means he was not a student.

I guess the police learned  their lesson from the Texas shooting (or they were not cowards to begin with) but they immediately charged right in the direction of the firing, confronted him, exchange shots and killed him.

Yeah, living with freedom gets messy. Not everyone is nice.
Of Course you sometimes have to deal with a red car that hates certain people.
So, what IS the answer Bot?
No guns? Just cops and military?
You don't want to do the going and getting, you want the government to do it?

It's true. There is no way to stop bad people from murdering the innocent.
If you want to find out what the best situation looks like, protect the people in schools.
Arm staff. Bad people do bad things. Some of them just run over people.
Evil exists. Evil people do bad things. It's up to the targets of those people to Not become victims. Children in school are not qualified to defend themselves. That means staff and security are the ones who must stop the threat. You can Not legislate safety into existence. Take the AR out of circulation? Really? Even IF they can get that done, I'm thinking there were school shootings that predated them. Doesn't matter, shotguns are very good for killing. Reloading isn't That hard. You shoot and load. Keep a couple in your hand, shoot, load.
What lefties call
Common Sense gun laws are retarded.
Just like those No Gun Zones. Absolutely retarded.
You believe someone who has gathered up their guns and ammo and are heading into a school to MURDER as many people as they can get to The Sign and turn around?
What exactly do you think they think about that SIGN?
But you don't want to change what is stupid.
You want to do more that can not make any difference.
Arm staff...

The point of the Onion quote is that there is only one obvious solution that the rest of the world sees clearly and America refuses to look at.
So we will stay in this situation.
It's a price we are currently willing to pay.

Well I guess we can stop arguing about this because you’re right,  the obvious solution is to handover a product 99.999% of us enjoy and use legally and without harming others, handover over a weapon which we can use as our last line of defense, and handover over a constitutional right to protect ourselves from an out-of-control government.

Random school shootings like this are phenomenally rare. Here in Missouri, we’re about to vote on legalize recreational marijuana and that comes with a cost. We will absolutely see an increase in traffic accidents and an increase in traffic fatalities. I just saw a report that said the average increase in states with legalized marijuana was 4%. That equates to a certain number depending on the size of the state. Willing to bet it’s larger than a number of people killed in random school shootings. But nobody’s arguing against that. We had a horrible incident here in Missouri earlier this summer were two young girls were killed when some stone dude cross the median and obliterated their car. I didn’t read about any upcoming marches.

I don't think this is accurate since the rest of the world does not have, and has never had "America's Problem".  This isn't unique to firearms, it applies to other problems as well.

Constitutional applications aside, any country that doesn't have 200 years of criminals owning/stockpiling weapons will be able to restrict gun ownership and reduce crime because the criminals don't have them either.  America does not have that option.
