Nail gun event
08/11/22 at 14:31:35

I figured this belonged here more than the Tall Table.

One time while running drills in the ED at a medical center, (not firearm exercises, not all drills are gun related) there was a patient wheeled in by a paramedic crew that had multiple nails protruding along the left side and top/left of his head.

This obviously would be interpreted as an assault at first glance.  What actually happened was this guy accidentally cut off his thumb, forefinger and middle finger of his right hand using a radial arm saw.  In his panic he decided life was not worth living with this injury and pain so he grabbed a nail gun and attempted to commit suicide by driving a nail into his head.

The battery was not fully charged so the gun did not produce enough velocity to do more than puncture the skin and barely the skull.  So 7 shots to the head and he was still alive.

Lucky for him his wife heard the screams, ran out and was able to call for help.  She also thought he had been attacked.

So keep your nail-guns charged everybody as I would hate to see something like this happen to you.

Actually I do not know if it was battery powered, but that was the story at the time.  I am not sure if cordless nail-guns have reduced velocity given how the flywheel mechanism works, but I can say no criminal charges or investigation ever happened.

Just when you thought I wasn't looking you start talking trash about me. I'm not good at that stuff, I'm GREAT! Here's proof  Shocked

Haven't been around much in quite a while. Work is good but busy running a new division alongside growth and acquisitions, crammed through my MBA in 12 months from May 2021 to May 2022, and we've been fostering a 7 year old since March-ish.  So...needless to say other than riding the kiddo up and down the driveway a few times the bikes have not been out much at all this year. Look at the bright side though...I am getting great at doing 1st grade math in my head without using the calculator on my phone  Huh Huh Huh

So, what was the problem?
Were you trying to subtract one? Or four?
Or were you trying to divide five?

I sure don't understand why he approached the problem that way. I hope he heals up to full function.
Yeah, Dave, I'm one of those as soon as algebra enters in.

Stew has been MIA for so long...

I wondered if he might have accidentally cut his head off this time.  Thank god it was just life keeping him away.

Grin

Batman has been MIA too.  Hope he's okay.

IDK Why. The first time I saw Nail Gun Event, yeah, I thought it was a competition.
But now I know it's Not, well,in a way,it kinda was.  The guy was trying to get in the Guiness book of records for the most bizarre, non Hillary inspired, suicide,      but my knee jerk reaction to the thread title remains the same.
Do I even need to explain what runs through me when I see
Second Coming?
Yeah, yeah, I do need to explain that one. First it's the religious thing, then the internal question of
What if this is about sex?

If someone knows the story on the hand, I mean, it Looks like a table saw accident, but I guess someone could do that some other way.
