Dodged a bullet

wow, we got lucky. This terrible, evil person who came a fraction of an inch from destroying our Democracy saved us the trouble. Don’t know about you but I’m sure glad his daughter and granddaughter won’t have to grow up with his evilness around. All those pursing those Nazi-like Jan 6 traitorous insurrectionist should feel proud.

A defendant awaiting sentencing for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot has committed suicide, according to news wire reports.

Mark Aungst, who was facing up to six months in prison and a $5,000 fine, killed himself on July 20, according to his obituary.

Aungst was among the many Jan. 6 demonstrators caught up in a protracted legal process stemming from the chaos of that day. He had pled guilty to a charge of demonstrating or parading in a restricted building and was due to be sentenced in September.

The deceased reportedly walked through the Capitol building taking photographs during the incident.

Comparing the volume of people being prosecuted to the volume of people committing suicide I would say there were substantial factors beyond this event that contributed to his decision.

It is unfortunate he didn't have, or possibly choose to use, mental healthcare.

I very rarely blame suicide on the life people live.  Too many go through nearly the exact same experiences without killing themselves.

Without knowing anything about the guy's life, which could be
Everything he touched worked out
Had a lovely wife and 2.3 children
Boss keeping his job open, waiting for his return
Or, maybe the relationship was rocky
All 2.3 children had come out as trans
Couldn't keep a job

I'm still blaming the
Straw that broke the camel's back.

Why is it that those J6 people can't get bail?
The guy who attacked the man running for office, with a weapon in hand, was on the street as fast as they could process the paperwork.

Amazing that you know
that, the fact that he was
probably, sternly, told.
"...six months in prison and a
          $5,000 fine..."

Was most likely not a factor !

I don't know that, and I never said I did.

What I do know is all the other people in his exact same position have not killed themselves, so to me, the Jan 6th prosecution process is not indicative of suicide.  If it were more people would be doing it.  This is just an attempt to make inappropriate prosecution methods look worse.

But as we have learned, if I don't think legal prosecution for Jan 6th causes suicide that also must mean I think it is appropriate, even though my actual words say the opposite.
