It's just as much of a pipe dream to believe that guns can be removed from America as getting drugs out of America. Yeah, the answer is, More Guns. If the bad guys know ten or fifteen percent of the population are armed citizens, then they have to wonder how many people they will be getting shot at by if they go start something. Plus, self defense is a human right. It's as natural as breathing. Every sentient creature has a desire to not be injured or killed. And the second amendment was written, not by some people who had just gotten back from a hunting trip, but by some men who had just freed a nation. The idea that a government can become oppressive and tyrannical is not some paranoid delusion. It's been seen. Read your history books. The second amendment was written to specifically say that the People have a right to be armed to remedy that situation. The " Nobody needs a weapon of war" refrain is just opinion. And history shows it's Wrong. For those of you who are cheering for the Ukrainians, please note that their government has been handing out Weapons of War to civilians. Why? Because they NEED them, to fight off an invasion.
