Lexicographic is pertaining to words, from the word lexicon.
The order and the standard are where you're confused.
A standard... would be the generally accepted meaning of a word. Meanings change over time. Words can have more than one definition. Language is not static.
We don't say thee and thou much any more.
"Gay" does mean happy, in fact usually more than just happy, or perhaps happy to the point of frivolity.
It became an insult to insinuate that homosexuals were frivolous and flaunting standard behavior.
But, rather than be insulted, gays adopted the label as their own, thereby rendering it harmless.
Once a word becomes universally defined as meaning something, it joins the standard lexicography.
...but why are you trying to make this political issue?
