Can these tanks really be this cheap. New.

This Ebay seller has a variety of new custom tanks at what seem to be absurdly low prices.
Anyone try one of these?  ( no, I am not promoting them, just curios  Smiley

Yea , they're cheep but the standard LS tank isn't big enough and these are even smaller !

If they make one that held 4 gallons , they would be nice !

If I were to build another cafe bike, I would use this tank. There are also aluminum tank & seat pan combos available.

Regarding the tank volume, a cafe racer is not a long-haul bike. 100 miles of range is plenty because you'll be looking to get off the bike after an hour or two.

There was an old thread where someone swapped in the tank from I think a C50, or just some other bigger bike in general. Completely transforms the look of the S40, makes it look like a much bigger bike!

A few years ago Smoking Blue posted his project for his wife's bike with a 4.5 gallon tank from a 650 Vstar. I followed in his wake and am very happy with it, BUT, it is NOT a bolt-on swap. You must make new mounts to the frame in front, and the tank is about 2'' longer so some mod to the seat is needed. 4.5 gal will outlast your butt.
Not a mod you would do just for looks, but if you want/need the range it is a option.

Not something I would consider doing, but I did see the photos, and the bike has much more road presence with the bigger tank.

I think smaller tanks look better on the LS650.  If you need a bigger tank, then you probably need a bigger bike!!  LOL

*I don't know how you guys can ride these things for hours and hours.  I'm done after 45 minutes.
Shocked

The tank in question looks good to me:

Cool.  The only thing I might point out with that particular tank is it's a bit long.  You'll just want to size your seat appropriately.

One of the issues with mounting a different tank on a Savage - is the width of the frame at the back of the tank.  The frame changes from the single backbone over the engine to double (left/right) frame tube.  The split becomes wide very quickly and is too wide for a lot of tanks.

I bought this tank from the same seller as it had a larger capacity and fit the dimensions I'm looking for in my build. They also had a bare version for painting yourself.
