Fork caps
12/10/21 at 14:39:23

I was wondering if anyone knows of any other model Suzuki fork caps that   will fit the Savage 38mm forks?  I'm using an aftermarket top triple clamp that allows the fork tubes to to raised up through the top triple clamp.
The stock Savage fork caps are made to pull the fork tubes up to the spacer ring in the top of the stock triple clamps. The stock fork caps wouln't tighten down onto the top of the fork tubes. There is a space of about 5/16" from where the spacer ring in the stock triple clamp would normally be.  Just looking for something that will tighten down onto the top of the fork tubes.
THANKS for any and all suggestions!  wiguzziman

I'd stack up some washers or have a spacer made.

I found an O-ring that fills the gap and looks fine.....it has been working fine for the last 6 years.  (I will post a photo later).

Brought up this question about a month ago and since then I've been able to locate the type of fork caps that I was looking for.  They are from an 89-98 Yamaha FZR600 and they fit the Savage fork legs perfectly (correct I.D. and O.D. is 38mm).  These allow me to slide the fork tubes up through the top triple clamp and not use the stock fork caps which leave a gap between the cap and the top of the tube and also have a larger O.D than the fork tubes.  Thanks for everyone's input and suggestions!  Carry on!!  wiguzziman  Smiley

How are you clamping the forks to the top triple clamp? Did you modify a lower triple clamp into an upper?

I purchased a very nice aftermarket top triple clamp from DC Motive.  Very nice piece that includes drilled & tapped mounting bosses for a tach, or instrument panel.

I also ran across another company (after I placed my order with DC Motive) that makes a top triple clamp for the Savage.  Check out Speed Moto Company.  Their clamp seems to be of the same quality as the DC Motive clamp; and it's $10.00 cheaper.  Another option to consider.

I believe DC motive is run by one of our active members on here (Spamy2).

Here are the ones I'm using. They are cheap, adjustable, and lighter. KLR-650 GEN 1 38mm forks use the same cap. The GEN 11 KLR's use a 41mm suspension if I'm not mistaken.
