Now that McConnell has given the game away by saying that if the Dems try to do away with the filibuster he'll burn down the Senate, that he will use every obstructionist tactic every tool at his disposal to dismantle everything they do at the first chance, it's obvious that the filibuster has to go.

Why? for the simple now obvious fact that the next election will be close again and if the GOP wins McConnell would eliminate the filibuster immediately as a matter of principle.

The filibuster is over whether it's the Dems ending it now or the GOP later. Personally I like Biden's idea, leave the filibuster in place but return it to it's traditional role where a senator had to actually stand there and hold the floor.
