I ordered a set of Suzuki fork boots online - and it turns out the package was shipped from China.  That was a bit of a surprise, as there was nothing on the webpage that indicated it was not a US company.

On February 18th I received this message from USPS: "Expected Delivery By 22, Feb"

Monday February 22nd came and went without delivery - so I signed up for notification from USPS, and the following is the path my package has taken on the way to KY.

So.....I can understand why a package from China might arrive in Chicago by airplane - but I can't quite figure out why a package would then go to Missouri, and then to Louisiana on the way to KY?

Ordered a foam mattress from a place in Calgary, deliver to Surrey, 600 miles. Fedex drivers not allowed to use cellphones, wasted 3 days trying to arrange delivery time, finally picked it up at depot.
'Common sense' and 'delivery' should never appear in the same sentence!!!!!

 That is worse.

 When it comes to logistics it makes sense in many cases to not take a straight route.  For instance for many years shipping an item by cargo container by ship from NY to LA was cheaper than driving that item across the US.

 In this case who knows what is going on.

My package does not seem to be moving.

 I built in a QR code that allows a recipient to communicate with the distributor if its in my network.  It's a simple app that offers only a few specific messages, like "Package is in wrong location"  or "Address incorrect"  or "Stop Shipment request".  This is really handy so someone in Dave's position can just send a ping with the pre-made message and the driver would know immediately.

 Not sure why more places haven't done something like this.  I do very little shipping by comparison so there must be a reason for the heavy hitters to avoid such things.

At least his is moving.

I don't know if they gave me the wrong tracking number - or sent my package to the wrong address. I filed a complaint with PayPal and the seller has a few more days to respond - then PayPal has 5 days to process the claim.  This seems like an easy case for PayPal to straighten out - the address I gave them for shipping is not where the shock boots were sent - or - the seller sent me the wrong tracking number and my package is still floundering around somewhere (or has never been sent).
