The horns of a dilemma

This is not an original observation but it's one I gnaw at.

I've probably blocked 10k people on FacePalm. It's a reflex at this point. One of the function upgrades I've desired was to make this easier. A single step button block and the ability to block all of a person's friends as well.
If someone is posting things I find objectionable, I don't want them to see me and I don't want to see them.  I think shunning has its place.

And it's somewhat effective. When I read comments on some of the smaller pages I follow, there's a lot less lunacy. In the larger sites the shear numbers are against me. Too many nut jobs to ever make a dent.

Because these large platforms have done a bad job of booting the crazies.

At the same time, the kooks are reportedly migrating to Parlor, or 8kun or some other self selecting environment where they can stew in the collected crazy. I haven't noticed a drop off yet but supposedly it's coming. Hosanna!

But now I'm having second thoughts. Cause while I have no desire to interact with the constellation of Christian Nationalists, white supremacists, Lost Cause, incels, Proud Boys, and other such types, corralling them together is how we got QANONs in congress.

They need some fresh air now and then.

Just because I don't want to have anything to do with them doesn't mean they don't need deprogramming. The typical back and forth on social media isn't really effective at changing minds but that doesn't mean it's time to close the door. Maybe some of them will step back from the brink if exposed to normalcy.

I'm not sure what the optimal solution is.

You just posted this to stir up trouble and I’m not gonna take the bait other than to say you do realize you’re kook in this scenario right?

Calling NH the 'kook" in this scenario, implies that you believe the White supremacists, Proud Boys, and QAnon to be reasonable.

Huh

Not at all. Linking them to The Republican Party and Conservatism is kooky.
Do they serve a decent lunch in your kooky asylum? If so, maybe I’ll drop by and visit you.

and I’m not gonna take the bait

Even though you just did! But you will be free of all this soon, the transition is now official. Unless you intend to weasel out of your bet, which I remind you I do not wish to collect on, but you nevertheless made a big speech about how you are such an 'honourable' kinda guy that you wouldn't dream of weaselling out. As I said when you made your suckers bet, I only accepted in order to see what excuse you'd make to weasel out of it.

Not at all. Linking them to The Republican Party and Conservatism is kooky.

Trump has made a conscious display of pandering to white supremecists and  he has remade the republican party in his own image and they bought into it.

Let’s see,
If someone is right of center,
And they say; “ need deprogramming.”
About the Ultra Liberal Fairy Dust Sprinkling Socialists,
Who are 10 (+/-)% of the far Left.

Exactly what Nationality would they be Racist about ?

Which is More TRUE, today, than yesterday.('06, S-40, Stock) well, mostly .
