I have a harness from an '03' I believe is compatable, not many differences from 87 as too connectors. Others who know might offer details if there is some difference.

The wiring is different between 86 and 03.
hell, wiring is different between 86 and 87.
so the handlebar controllers may not work... correctly.
the TCI (ig box) has a different connector.
you need a new TCI so it may be an option but if you do you'll need to swap the rotor for a newer one.
The signal light connectors maybe different, not sure.

so if you're going to use the 03 harness, you may want to replace everything.

At this point I already have to replace the whole electrical system, except for the reg/rec. I'm also planning to add new lights, signals and handlebar controls. My other option is to use Clymer's to solder one together, but I would still need new connectors.

Also, thanks for that cam chain tensioner!
