Those steam traction engines are pretty cool. My grandfather operated a Port Huron engine as a young man in Kentucky. If you every get a chance to attend a "steam show", it is well worth the trip. Lots of really interesting historical old iron.

Speaking of torque, the Case company had a demonstration called the Case Incline. Since steam engines have max torque starting from zero rpm, they are really responsive to throttle.

Very cool ! I always love riding old steam engine trains. The sounds the smells the feeling you just stepped back 100 years in time. I like riding in the car closest to the engine. Big Fun , go ride a steam train and you’ll see. One old logging train near Yosemite has eight driving wheels for extra traction pulling loads of logs in the mountains. I got stung by a bee that day the train motored thru a swarm,50+ people and I was the only one that got stung.
