I was doing research and found Grip Puppies product from Amazon. Does anyone has experience with this product? Please let me know is it worth to buy. Thank you

I bought a set of Grip Puppies to put on my F800GT. The stock grips are very small and hard.

The Grip Puppies are a much softer foam like material, and they increase the diameter of the grip what appears to be about 1/4" (1/8" thick layer all around the grip).

I have not installed them yet......so I really can't give you a before/after comparison. I will try and get them installed this week and give you a report.

Reply #2 - 08/17/20 at 07:46:03 I put rubber grips on mine, then 1.25 foam grips over those. It helped. I have just recently filled the bar ends with silicone out of a caulk gun. No reports yet. Doing a bunch of work on the bike.

I have used many different grips over the years, and actually think there was a better selection in years past. What works best for me is lead fishing weights hammered into the bar ends, gel gloves, and the plastic twist assist thing on the throttle end. Don't over tight the bar mounts as that will crush down the rubber bushings, transmitting more vibration.

I think the twist assist, while good for most things, can be dangerous .
A number of years ago I was outside the Triumph dealer and there was a low miles Truxton with some road damage. I asked and found out that the bike was a widow maker.
Seemed the guy (new rider and husband) was leaning in the corner the bike was getting too close to the center line. He cranked down on the bars to to lean more but as he did he put pressure on the twist assist and the bike responded. Panicked hit the brakes the bike ended up under a truck coming the other way.

Now there were some factor of inexperience, more powerful bike than he should have been on .

But sadly I can see myself getting into the same situation with a twist assist.

Grip Puppies (and P.ussy-Grips) are rubbish, they use a low quality foam that compresses quickly so they become useless very fast, you'd have to put on a new set every few months. I found some all metal quality grips that had a much better grippy foam that lasted a long time.

However even if the foam does stay malleable and doesn't compress too much, what eventually happens is that it gradually becomes shiny and less 'sticky'.

I eventually put on a sticky rubber grip back on on the throttle because if it gets smooth then it causes you to need to squeeze it tighter when it gets shiny and this causes even more problems.

A solution to a foam grip that is not grippy, is to use Sno Seal on your riding gloves this provide a nice waxy feel that doesn't slip. This is a great product for all your leather stuff.

These were the ones I used https://www.mcas.com.au/shop/item/avon-chrome-small-1375inch-memory-foam-grips that eventually went a bit shiny after 3 years and needed the wax.
