New/Old Tracker
07/15/20 at 08:21:28

Hey Folks; I just acquired a Savage Tracker from a friend. He spent a lot of time, money, and sweat on it to make it a great daily rider. I would like to make it run like it looks, and had planned the following:
1) Stage 3 cam, per Lancers specs
2) Hi-Comp piston
3) Mildly port and polish the head
4) Make a 1.5-1.625” exhaust with Cone Engineering muffler
It already has a Mikuni Flat slide pumper carb, and the timing chain tensioner modification.
If anyone has any of these parts or knows a good source, please PM me. Thanks

Pretty sure Lancer can help you out with the parts or direct you where to get them. You will find Lancer in The Market Place. Do ten bogus posts and then you can PM Lancer directly.
Is it a Ryca tracker ?

Thanks Ruttly. I did get in touch with Lancer, and he has all the goods.

I hope you'll post up photos of the bike, I love to see projects like this!

I just finished the 1 5/8” exhaust, and have been tweaking the jetting on the TM40 Mikuni. So far moved from a 155 to a 140 main jet. It pulls strongly to 70 in 3rd, and I have gotten up to 90. More to come as time and $ allow.

Oh yeah. The speeds obtained were on a closed course with all safety gear, and Mom watching.

I would not be doing the 90 in 3rd thing too often. That is getting pretty close to "take it apart and replace the damaged bits" territory. There's not much safety margin left at that rpm.

90 was in 5th. I don’t have a standard Savage to compare.

Okay, that makes me feel better. I read that as 90 in 3rd. Smiley

I think my old stock 2016 savage would hit about 90 max speed, not sure about pulling to 70 in 3rd though, I think you've got it beat there.

Is that with a stock speed-o-meter?   ‘Cuz the Savage is famously off- by as much as 12% on the high end, tire depending.

Awesome machine!  Please post higher-resolution shots of the details, you've done some nice work on this, as did the previous owner!
