Junking the vacuum carb

I want to replace my sluggish, troublesome diaphragm carb with a mechanical slide carb. Do I need a 40 mm?

Most will point you to a vm36 or a vm38 if you have heavy engine mods already. Lancer has a kit.

I think you might find this carburetor shootout useful.  It compares four different carbs, and provides installation & jetting info.

Good luck.

If you have a stock engine the CV carb is well suited to the performance characteristics of the 650 engine. If your carb is properly adjusted, it should be neither troublesome or sluggish. What steps have to taken to get the CV operating correctly?
