The ECU will see an open circuit as the side stand being down and the ECU will cut spark when you put it into gear.

Yes but I don't need the plug. I have also removed the decompressor. Starts fine without it. it's all just extra weight and extra junk to hide where there is not a lot of hiding place on my bike.
I can't work out what the other plug is for though
