Recommendations on replacing the air box
04/19/20 at 18:53:41

Hi all...
If I were to replace the stock airbox with something else ... what would you recommend?
And are there any replacements that wouldn't require re-jetting the carb?

Many thanks!

Why do you want to replace it? What is it you want to achieve?

Well... good question ... arrived at the idea because on my rebuild I've found that my starter solenoid is bad and getting to it was a major pain with the air box in place.
And I've seen some nice mods using other air filters than the standard box.

So, since I've removed it anyway figured now would be a good time to explore options.  And there isn't any better place to ask such questions than to you all here on the forum.

Figure it never hurts to ask  Cheesy

Cheers,

the stock jets work with a stock system.
if you change it, expect to change the jets.

don't put a pod filter on the carb by itself, you'll get erratic performance.
you'll want a straight section at least as long as the duct between the filter and the airbox.
and don't cover the upper opening of the carb.
