Anyone else looked into the history and evolution of the 59 Club out of the Ace Cafe in London? I did. Then I joined. It's a wonderful story.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/59_ClubRiders were all on British bikes during the post warII heyday, but the mods, fabrication, energy, wild speed and competitions were where the "cafe racer" was born. I mean you gotta love a wrench turning Rocker that married a Triumph motor to a Norton frame (the Triton)...or a BSA motor to a Triumph or Norton frame. Plus, this was where the origin of the leather "motorcycle jacket" phenomena as we know it today came from. Members were known as Rockers...cause...you guessed it...they were into rock and roll music in the early days...1950s. They were also known as "greasers" because of their propensity to work on their own bikes (they were British bikes after all) accumulating...grease and grim. It's where doing the "TON"or "Ton-Up", originated. Cool huh?
Most admirable part of membership criteria today is that all you need to be a member is owning a motorcycle and participating (club activities if you live near a sanctioned section) i.e. riding it. It is the largest motorcycle club in the world with some club sections in the US. None in New Mexico, however.
All cool, just sayin".
Be safe and stay well. Get fresh air and sunshine everyday!!
