Oil leak from Generator cover?
03/22/20 at 08:20:53
In the past month I've developed an oil leak. I get oil showing up on the Engine Sprocket Cover and a bit on the Generator Cover where the 2 pieces join. There is no evidence of oil leaking anywhere else.
Can I assume the oil is leaking from the Generator Cover Gasket?

The bike has alternator and has a pulley (not generator for sure, and unless you did a chain drive swap no sprocket) and its extremely rare for this to leak out of there unless you pulled that cover off and damaged the gasket.
Its much much more likely that its leaking from that plug over the exhaust and the oil is seeping round without you noticing and getting at the location you are seeing it in by virtue of gravity.
Look for oil around the cylinder head. If that's the case, you need the versiplug I would think. But you can also ignore it and keep it filled with oil to compensate for the lost oil.
Cool.
Srinath.

Check for tight on the long bolt that from footpeg to footpeg,.. it squeezes the engine cases together.

Good call Serowbot.
If it is loose, do it right and use a torque wrench. The spec is 57 ft-lb wet or 63 ft-lb dry. This is a Savage...always use blue locktite and use the wet spec.
