Is the exhaust header single or double-walled?
03/10/20 at 12:00:45

Is the exhaust header on a 2014 LS650 single or double-walled?  It would seem that it is single walled due to its propensity to yellow and then "blue" after a few thousand miles.  I've owned several BMW boxers and their pipes blue after a few hundred miles, and they are all single-walled header pipes. No BMW owner ever complains about this.  I never did either -- it's expected.  I've had bikes with double-walled header pipes which resist yellowing (and then bluing) till many thousands of miles.

Before someone rails on me, I'm just curious -- not complaining.

Double.
Yes, usually coloring means single wall, but the Savage runs crazy lean and the heat blues the head pipes. Seen them blue back to the end of the head pipe.

In theory, theory and reality are the same. In reality, they aren't...
