weak spark
02/29/20 at 12:00:27

I'm getting a weak spark and misfiring.  I just replaced the coil and same issue.  I'm reading 10.6v at coil and the same on the plug going to the CDI. Battery is reading 12.6v Any initial thoughts or suggestions?

10.6 is pittyful, you need to clean all the wiring contacts.

I recommend deoxit

Is the battery reading 12.6VDC at rest or with a running engine. If that’s with a running engine you have a charging issue.

Losing two volts between battery and coil is not okay. Check connections under the tank, if not almost falling apart, then disconnect, inspect, a dab of dielectric grease,
Check the ground on the right side case.
Good luck

There's a connector by right by the battery, I think the wires were yellow/green and yellow/orange maybe? and it was coming loose and really dirty.  I cleaned it up and cleaned up a bunch of other connectors and it's running better than it's ran in awhile.
Thanks.

I would still check the battery ground at the casing . It's on the right side about 2"above and 2"in from the oil level site glass. the motor is also a ground ,it carries the ground that allows the battery to charge , the starter to run, and the sparkplug to fire.

battery ground by casing looked good to me but I cleaned it up anyways.  Currently, I'm getting 12.9 at battery and 12.1 at coils, so I significant increase.  BUT... I am getting a weak spark problem again, I made a second post because I think it's a different issue going on

Thank you everyone for the help

Can you take a read while the starter is cranking?
And what is the voltage at idle?
