Posts: 31	howdy savagers. 02/19/20 at 16:52:04 just wondering how long should i expect that rubber drive belt to last. i have about 8000 miles on it now. wish i had bought one of these bikes wayy back! it is such a nice ride. i don't see many on the hiway though. hmmm. i ride 200 miles every sunday mostly highway. oh well. they are just missing out. thanks all

I am too old and lack the stamina required to ride 200 miles in a day but glad you can... Just bought a second S40 today and will be offloading my older one once I get it fixed up a little more.

Read up on it here on the site , don't use the gauge in the tool kit (toss it) it sets the belt way to tight.

My first one snapped at 75,000. I have also replaced them because of a hole from a rock (probably would have been ok), and deep cracks that I just didn't feel good about. Can't speak to the actual mileage on the last 2, as I bought used belts on ebay.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.
