Afternarket tank choices

Do any of the ebay cheapo new Chinese tanks fit the savage and what was needed to fit it.

I bought this -
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-Cafe-Racer-9L-2-4-Gallon-Fuel-Gas-Tank-Ca...

It does fit, it needs to sit pretty far back, almost lining up with the 2 rear tank bolt holes on the frame. But its shorter than the original savage tank and hence leaves a lot of steering neck showing.

This one -
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Set-Motorcycle-Cafe-Racer-2-4-Gallon-9L-Vintage-Fu...

Its longer and even narrower at the front. Has anyone tried that tank and how did t work.

I need narrow in the front but covering up as much as the savage tank did.

Cool.
Srinath.

The fine print on the listing says to allow for a .5-1" variation in dimension due to the "hand measured" nature of the product!

He he LOL, measuring is by hand. The shiitte is made in a monster machine that may have .00001% variation if that.
Why they cant have a monster 18 prong 3d Vernier caliper and publish the numbers at 6 spots - well, they probably did that but it is a compound curve, so numbers of what you check vs what they check can be off - basically cos you don't have a 18 prong 3d Vernier caliper that's set the same as theirs for the mounting jigs.
As in mount it 1/4" forwards, and you may be 1/2" wider or narrower.
Its not a hand made item, its made in a machine the size of your average house in a factory the size of a city block.

Cool.

I wonder if the loose tolerances have more to do with this?

(and click the "not now" lower right if Facebook pops up)
