'public goods'

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/they-are-public-goods-alexandria-ocas...

The 29-year-old former bartender wants open borders (the American taxpayer will pay for all the associated costs). AOC wants free health care for everyone (Who pays? You guessed it). The first-term lawmaker — whom the head of the Democratic National Committee has called the “future of the party” — also wants free college for everyone (you can bet that includes all the foreigners who come in through the open borders).

The Democratic socialist says it’s not free, but rather “public goods.”

LOL...   Grin

This is a lie.   This isn't a matter of interpretation- it's just a lie.  Ocasio-Cortez has been explicitly clear- there's no justification or excuse for repeating this fiction.

Facts aren't really important on this forum.  Easier to repeat what I was told, or read on a website I like than to research real policy and make an educated decision.

Maybe you were born yesterday, Ray- there was a time when millions of people received a university degree for very little or no payment.   Consequently, that investment fueled our growth, and resulted, in part, in one of the two lowest poverty rates on record.   All that ended with Ronald Regan's retreat from social investment.   We've suffered the consequences ever since.

Was a time too, schools taught what was needed, not indoctrination.....

I am all for schooling, and believe it can solve lots of our ills.

But it needs to be focused, and held accountable.

I think 12 years and beyond, should still be provided as the first 12, in most courses.
But again, it needs to be productive and successful, not just another endless resource gobbling program.

That's a valid concern.    There's substance to that concern.   No such substance was present in your lead post, seemingly devoid of understanding of circumstance, nor of any apparent care for understanding.

"Free stuff.....Free Stuff....FREE STUFF....FREE STUFF.......FREEEEEE  STUFFFFFF....!!!!!"

You have to do better than that, Ray.   Such is an obstruction to any real consideration.

Abolishing ICE and advocating all immigrants have rights and a pathway to citizenship is close enough to me.

Is that conservative enough for you?

This is going to come as a shock to you, but everyone in our country has rights.   It's true.   I won't wait while you check.

ICE has existed since 2003; those that would see it gone don't advocate for open borders in its elimination, rather what they see as an ill-conceived agency with a horribly executed mission.   Ocasio-Cortez specifically has made clear that she is not calling for the end of deportation.   We can disagree with her assessment and advocacy for ending ICE-as-we-know-it, but claiming it equates to open borders is simply not true.   Repeating and believing untrue things is antithetical to the democratic process- an educated electorate is essential.

A path to citizenship is not without condition- it's a path, after all -it's something we've always had.   The path Ocasio-Cortez advocates is for the so-called Dreamers- folks who grew up in the US, know no other country, have no other lives.

If you believe these nuanced positions equat to open borders, you are believing a lie.   I've made an effort you would not to educate you.   Continuing to repeat this lie will only describe you, not Ocasio-Cortez or the policy she advocates.   We'd all be better off were you to favor the truth.

What's a 'lie'? Is extrapolating AOC's immigration proposals into support for open borders any different than you extrapolating Trump into a bigot because he didn't want those with a criminal background crossing the border? Now, you'll site other incidents 'proving' your point and I could site other examples proving PG's point about AOC and open borders.

In the political world, lie's are often a matter of perspective. Did Obama 'lie' when he said the riot that sparked the Benghazi debacle was caused by a video? Depends on your perspective. Was there a quid pro quo beneficial to Obama's political party when he returned money to Iran? Depends on your perspective. Did Hilary lie about the reason for the server in her basement was convenience?  Did Trump lie when he said Mexican was going to pay for the wall?

All of us 'lie' based on the fact we accept our view of events as absolute  truth and anyone not accepting that is flawed. As has been said (and a fact all good salesman and politicians take advantage of) people mostly make emotional decisions and justify them afterwards with selected facts. It's how we survive in a complicated world.

The great equivocator.   The absence of good faith efforts to test and reflect I reject exclusively.

Unable or unwilling to discern difference, you equivocate all.   The best apprehension provided by intelligence services  in a moment and later superseded is not on a spectrum with Trump saying he didn't know anything about payments to Stormy Daniels.   Your premise itself is sophistry.  'We all lie by thinking we know what we know when denouncing fiction.'   Specious noise, that.

One thing you've made absolutely, unequivocally clear, Mark:

You lied when you said you didn't read my posts.   A petty lie- and definitive.

AOC Raised More for Reelection Campaign Last Quarter Than All Other House Dems, Including Pelosi
Ocasio-Cortez raked in $1.42 million between July 1 and September 30, outstripping Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), who raised $1.26 million over the same period, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), who raised $1.26 million, the New York Post first reported. All three are up for reelection in 2020.

“This is very rare, unique,” political consultant George Arzt told the Post. “I can’t recall anyone raising this much money during the first year in office.”

Contributions under $200 comprised most of the donations to Ocasio-Cortez, at $1.1 million in total contributions.

Remember when folks like Limbaugh told voters to vote for Hillary, in the open primaries....?
You recall how much division it caused, and extended the campaigning spending beyond what should have been a done deal for Obama....

Think maybe these same folk, want her around?    Huh
