 Vanderpool, Texas      ?

Twisted Sisters , Texas .  :   https://www.ridetexas.com/the-twisted-sisters/

How many once in a lifetime EPIC Motorcycle Rides are there to do in the United States ?
Dave , this is the ONE to do in Texas where the default speed limit is 70 mph. and you have to call a State Trooper to find one !  Grin
Bring a bike with removable bags ,  we'll put the bags in the back seat and the bikes in the rear of the truck .   Fuel wise it will be about the same.

Starts near LEAKEY TX.

The "jump off" place for the 3 sisters is Vanderpool.  Th 337 sister starts getting a bit twisted just west of Vanderpool.
Leakey is the "jump off" for the 3 sisters loop (336, 41, 335, 337).  Which way you go around the loop is normally determined by prevailing winds, as riding into a stiff wind on 41 is tedious.
I don't like 41, so I usually take the "dirty sister". (336, 3235, Bullhead Road (appx 8 miles of "unimproved road surface"), 2631, 335, 337).

Yes, the 3 Twisted Sisters is something you should do if in the area, but there are many roads that I prefer over those.
As always, if any of you wander over this way, I will do my best to show you some good rides!  Cheesy

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Great to see ya here Neal. For those of you that don't know, Neal is our Texas Hill Country Expert. The most enjoyable rides I have ever been on have been with Neal leading the pack. And he is pretty good at finding good eats also. This is great riding guys. Let's do it!!! Smiley

Gentlemen, we are nearing the end of January already. I would love to see you guys on a Hill Country ride this spring. Let's start seeing who is interested and trying to narrow down the dates.

Sounds good.
I think we can wait until a month before to finalize because the cabins do not fill up for this time period.

Cool. So right now it appears we have the following people interested in participating:
Verslagen
Lancer
MM
Youzguyz
Springman
and possibly Hammer

If anybody else thinks they may be interested, feel free to ask questions. The Texas Hill Country, specially with Neal leading us or giving us routes to take, is just plain an amazing ride. It is more relaxed than the Tail of the Dragon yet challenging and substantially more varied than the Dragon. We ride, we BS and we have gobs of fun. And the eateries that Neal takes us too tend to be first rate.

Work occasionally takes me to the Houston area and sometimes I drive.  Nothing in the hopper as far as I know right now, but if it develops I will see about coordinating it around these rides and truck the S40 along for an extra day or two of play time.  Not likely to all time out just perfectly, but you never know...

Just a note on the cabin, it has bunk beds for 4.  Bring your own bedding.
I can bring a cot and there's room enough for another, although it gets tight.

Yep, it can get a bit tight but we have had six in the cabin before and we really don't spend too much time there anyway. Of course if we gut more people we can get another cabin.

I've got permission , all I need is good weather !   Smiley

My Savage is back to the 2.7 gal. tank and its about 1000 miles one way.

I might want to bring something with a larger tank or a truck this year if ya'll don't care .   Making life easier seems to be more important  now than it did the first time we went to RIDE THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY .    Grin

If anybody is passing my way and wants to put a second bike in the truck , then the truck automatically wins.

No pressure.. right??
Would you like perfect weather with that?  $1.49 gasoline?

Wellll... doesn't always work out that way.
Horrendous hail (that was a bullet dodged!!!    Shocked
Busted shocks.  (The cattle guard wasn't that bad.. )  Roll Eyes
Kissing the mountain.  (Hate it when that happens).  Sad

Still, like Springman says, it is gobs of fun!!!

Neal does not lead.. Neal rides where he feels like going and sometimes people follow him.
You people want to hit some spots, you tell Neal what spots you might want to hit.  Cheesy
