Well, gee wizz , the wall isn't 100% effective. No doubt because the smugglers are ingenious, persistent, adapt to new challenges and, not least of all, can operate with complete impunity on their own side of the border.

I guess we ought to just tear the whole useless edifice down and just let the drug smugglers stroll across anywhere and anytime they please.

Maybe reassign all the Border Patrol Agents to the TSA too. That way they can pester law abiding American citizens instead of annoying the drug cartel employees .

It's really irritating to explain the obvious..
But, for you, my empathy for you, drowning in ignorance, I'll do it.
Please note that prisons have walls.
Those walls are watched over by guards.
Now, pay attention, because this is where FUKKING common sense comes in..

A few men can monitor and protect a long stretch of wall, whereas WITHOUT the wall, the manpower required would be tremendous.

My post was sarcasm...

The "Wall" is more a symbol than a solution.
A physical embodiment of racist resentment.
I won't argue this again,.. but it has been pointed out by experts in that field, that there are better and more efficient ways, using modern technologies, to guard a border.
Walls are already in place where they are more appropriate than other methods.
Terrain, jurisdiction, ecology, and eminent domain issues, make Trump's one size fits all solution, simplistic and impractical.
"Wall" is more a campaign rally cry than anything else.

Wasn't Eminent Domain, a pet issue of yours at one time?...

This is the problem, people ignoring the voices of those doing the job right now.

ICE and CBP both have shown ample information showing this is very inefficient. That why they want early warning tech, drones, sensors, equipment. They constantly indicate how they could do a better job if they had the right equipment. Remember that "bad morale" article, they mentioned this. Deportation is a mess because the system is severely overcrowded, the people on the ground keep telling us the goal should be to stop them before they get in.

The National Guard used a system that reduced illegal crossing by a huge amount and did it with 6 staff. Miles and miles of border protected by 6 staff, and... the right equipment. Even the local "Citizen patrols" stopped going to that area because there was nobody to find.

6 guys did that with no wall, just the right tech.
