I'm not going to argue with a lot of that article. The US has been in a long period of decline for quite some time. The slow slide toward authoritarian socialism has been going on for most of my lifetime.

Some of the people (not me, I voted for him because I detested his opponent and everything she stand for) who voted for Trump saw his presidency as a possible way of turning that slide around, That's possible in the short term I suppose, but, with the almost 50/50 political split in the country and demographics being what they are,and unchecked illegal immigration from places where there is absolutely no concept of honest representative government, and a permanent ruling elite that has replaced that concept with one of power simply for the sake of exercising that power over the lives of others, and for self aggrandizement, I think that the downward trajectory is irreversible.

Ironically, it's going to be those folks who are so fervently waiting for their brave new world to be ushered in that are going to be the victims of their wishing. Such has always been the case. The true believers always figure that out after it's too late.

On the other had, the relatively self sufficient, so called "ignorant bigots" who don't expect the government to provide for them from cradle to grave, will probably fare better.

I suspect that the more intelligent among the former group might even recognize that fact, at least at a visceral level, even though they won't admit it to themselves. I think that may account for a lot of the insane, unhinged screeching coming from that corner of the room.

And Ray; you're gonna need a bigger boat.
