Law abiding citizens Do need to be prepared.
How would you like to be between two gangsters and be unarmed?
Yeah, I thought so..
You'd just drop and hope, because that's All a person should be able to do.

You'd turn in to John Wick for a second, then bleed out.

 I think it's a valid question.

If you are in a location where two armed individuals will engage in gunfire indiscriminately would you want to be armed?

This doesn't mean you have to use your weapon, but would you want one if you knew you would be in an environment where firearms will be used in conflict?

I would prefer to be armed.

"exact same time"

Do you really think the only option is to fire two directions at once?

If only someone had said "This doesn't mean you have to use your weapon" … oh wait...

I,m form holland a small country in Europe with Amsterdam as capital.
I am 55 years old and have seen 1 gun in my entire life. All the people I know have rarely seen a gun.

I don't remember ever being scared on the street.
There is crime here, and people are being robbed, and there is fighting, but  worst case scenario you just go to the emergency room to get a bandage and you're good to go.
If anyone here has a gun, we look upon him as a loser, or as a criminal.

If 1 bullet is fired here, all hell breaks loose. Half the army is called in and it appears on the news. The penalties here are very low. If you shoot (kill) someone you only get 8 years. With chance of early release. Guns are no problem here. Because we just don't have them.

....you go to the hospital, get bandaged up and you're good to go.....
That's it? Seriously? Somebody robs you and that's all you got? That's the attitude of the majority of thee people living there?

What you should understand being from there is that the vast, vast majority of gun crimes and killings in the US is within limited areas in major urban areas. Basically it's criminal drug dealers killing each other over drug deals gone bad followed closely by the what is best described as a violent culture of retaliation for a perceived action of disrespect from one person towards another.

It's almost 6 am here, I've not read the news yet but can pretty much guarantee one or two people died last night for oneo of those reasons above.

To make matters worse, we've had 13 children under 16 killed in St Louis this summer and every single one is the result of shots fired towards someone else for one of those two reasons going astray and hitting them. Tragic.

There's no easy solution to get out of that mess.

https://www.stltoday.com/news/multimedia/special/st-louis-area-homicide-map/h...

Hete you go, St Louis area murder map. Or whete not to live if moving to St Louis! Guessing every major city has something like this.

But here's the $64,000 question: There are tens of thousands, perhaps several hundred thousand guns in those mostly blank areas where you see practically no red dots. So are guns really the problem or is it something deeper?

https://www.communityaction.org/missouri-poverty-facts/

And before you blame it on poverty, take a look at the state of missouri poverty map. Note the very poor rural areas mostly down south. What do you suppose the gun ownership ratio is? What do you suppose the homicide rate is?
If you answered high and then very low, move to the head of the class.

Also note where the city ranks. Why is one poor area full of gun crimes and the others are not?

The answers are uncomfortable to confront.

The Goal is NOT, to prevent crime,
or save innocent lives,
the Goal is to BAN GUNS.
