Youzguyz,
I have all the respect and gratitude in the world for our veterans and military.  My husband was there for D. Storm and Sheild. My son is currently deployed to Poland/Germany for awhile..
I've been looking for something to do with my bike since about 2 weeks post licensing this spring.  (Yes, I'm a newbie, but coming along nicely) I didnt know what exactly except it had to do with the military.
I knew about the PGR, Who doesnt!  * bows respectfully * but I didnt know about ALR until we attended the parade for the 100th Ann of Legion this past Monday locally. They came through assisted by some of the other local club members because honestly there didnt seem to be many (ALRs) when the announcer told who they were and what they did. I just knew right then that this is what I want to do. I'm going to be an ALR!
My husband has graciously agreed to do this with me until I'm declared " trained" for lack of a better word. Thus relieving the team of the pressure of having a newbie. I come with a partner and coach to begin with.  Smiley  My little savage and I have a lot of work to do but I think parades are a good place to start. We both clean up pretty good.
Thank you for offering to answer questions. I'm still in awe you are a PGR.  So let me regain my composure here. I will definitely check out your page! Thank you so much for your time. I believe we will be talking more here. Lol

Ok, So 1st let me say we might be drifting a bit off topic. Not for me because this all comes back around to what Im doing, but if this should be in another thread somewhere Mods please let me know. Im content to stay here rather than move around your forum and get into trouble somehow. But I have no issue if you want to use your mad mod skills to put me where I wont bother anyone.

youzguyz..
I looked at your pics and visited the PGR link. What your group does is wonderful. Well done! I was esp moved by the "unattended"  missions. Is that right? When the vets have no one. I wonder how much that happens here. This is a very rural community. small town stuff. Very small towns.
Are there still a lot of funeral protests going on now? or has that settled down some? Just curious. I dont watch a lot of news...
I have a few questions, maybe not pertaining to flags at the moment but if your willing to answer I would be grateful. I really want to make a good impression when I meet with whoever my local ALR is. Best way to do that is know some stuff and not ask a lot of stupid questions. So can I ask you? I dont want to be a pest.
Heres a couple..
Is it unusual for women to escort or do missions? I guess Im asking whats proper. I didnt see any in the pics on your page.
and I have a few questions about vests and patches but Im not sure if its the same "rules" between the 2 groups. Not so much placement more about.. lets say earning them, wearing them? I guess. For example if I do get into the ALR do I get to wear a patch or are there things I have to do 1st? I dont know and Yeah thats probably a stupid question.  Its all about etiquette that I ask these things. I mean theres a lot to this. Im just trying to get a handle on some of the basics for now.
Are you also an ALR and are there any here? (Its good to know who to suck up to right from the beginning. Just kidding. Kinda.  Wink ) I joke sometimes but thats just me Im very serious about all this.

Also, if theres anyone else reading this... Please feel free to join in if you have something to add. Im listening.

ShellyB.  I started a new topic in The Cafe called "PGR, ALR and other motorcycle escort things" and put your post in there.  My responses will be there as well.
Stuff about the flag mount probably can still go here.  But, I am not a moderator  Wink

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.
