I might need to sell a guzzi V-7 II in the near future ?

Yep , the dealing with that 17" tire and the low millage of anything that comes in 130/90-17 is changing my View on the V-7 Guzzi as a long range keeper !

............................

But , I might have found a solution .

this one is really similar but the engine is an 850cc instead of 750cc .
but this one has the 16" rear tire size and 19" front .

I'll know by Tuesday morning  Wink

That V9 is awful shiny!  I can see how it could get your attention.

If the new bike doesn't come to be - how hard/expensive would it be to change the rear rim on your bike to a 16"?  (seems like you aren't wearing out front tires too quickly).

I looked up that version of the V9, and it uses a 100/90-19 front tire and a 150/80-16 rear tire, and you can get that in the Michelin Commander tire - but at a price of $115 for the front and $151 for the rear tire......they don't come cheaply!  The Metzler Marathon ME888 is similarly priced.

There are also Kenda tires that look good and are cheaper.
https://www.bikebandit.com/tires-tubes/motorcycle-tires/kenda-k676-retroactiv...

There are a lot more tire choices with that size of wheel combination.

It is a bit hard to "pigeon hole" your motorcycle needs, and find the "perfect" bike for you.  You corner like you want a sport bike, ride long distances like a touring bike, want to take Marcia occasionally and need a bike that can ride double......and you like to hang out with guys on Cruisers.

Lets see if I can do this :

Only 4 gallons , but I've have read the V-9 gearing lends its self to better MPG than the "Zipper" V-7 does , well the V-7 got about 55mpg on todays ride .   So the V-9's fuel light comes on about 180 miles , and the V-7's light comes on about 200 miles.   European fuel prices must be higher than our's ,  Huh

..............................................

Only 1,200 miles

I think 150 tire width is a bit much but it would be nice for the rim to be wide so the tire fits flat on the road  .    So , I'll check rim width after wearing out the original tire .  A narrow tire on a wide rim seems like a good idea to me .

My first experience with 17" rims has been  educational  enough there might not be a second !  Wink
I didn't think about it before jumping in , but "I've seen the Light"

I suspect that "Cruiser " bunch will never keep up with anybody that has been to the "OldFeller School of Dragon Slaying"  !
............................................

Springman , the easy assure is :   I'll see if I can find out ?  Shocked Wink

Well I sure hope things work out for you......it is a nice looking bike and has GIVI luggage!

I suppose the Corbin seat from your V7 will fit the V9?

And.....the Sport Demon tires on it will likely get you through the rest of this year (unless you go riding with Stewmills and me for a few days).

And I know you will enjoy washing and polishing it to keep it looking like new! Wink

will the new wheels fit on the old bike?

Na , Versey

the drive shaft is different , and the final drive gear rato is different / BIGGER and beef-ier .   the spoke shape if different too.

I'm going to go pick it up tomorrow in Kentucky .   I hope all goes well , its about 1/2 price and still has two years of factory guarantee left on it .

They have started making an adventure bike out of the 850 motor now too .   the last picture shows the driveshafts mass.
https://www.motoguzzi.com/sg_EN/motorbikes/enduro/V85TT/V85TT/

So now there are three of them :  The V-9 Roamer , The V-9 Bobber , and the V85TT , all the same family but the V85TT is outselling all the others put together ?   Its too tall for me !  Roll Eyes

The only part of this scenario that has me worried - is trying to sell your used V7.  The Moto-Guzzi market is pretty limited, and I wonder how easy it will be to sell a used V7 in the rural TN market.  Selling your Harley was likely pretty easy in comparison - it may not be so easy for a Guzzi.

Well Dave , your right about it being "Petty"  in the full sunshine it reflects nice !  Cool

.................................

Hopefully I'll get it Tagged today  .

but no gravel or dirt roads !
and at least under the    car    Bike port parking !  Wink

..................................

I'm a little unclear how the V85TT version is ratted at 80 something HP ,
and
The V-9 versions are only rated a 50 something Hp ?    both are 84 x 77 B+S --- but it don't really matter , anything over 30 HP goes to waste anyway !  Grin

Its only got 1200 miles on it , and looks brand new .  Smiley

It appears Moto-Guzzi has put an engine in the V85TT that is quite a bit different than the engine in the V9.  Here is what their website says:

A new engine, a future classic
The V85 TT introduces a new Moto Guzzi engine. Its configuration mirrors that of all Moto Guzzi bikes in production today: an air-cooled transverse 90° V twin with OHV distribution and two valves per cylinder, the pride and tradition of the Mandello Eagle. Engine capacity is 853 cc, thanks to a bore to stroke ratio of 84 x 77 mm. The most modern of all engines in the range, it can boast a ratio of almost 100 HP/litre. Thanks to its complete new design and the use of materials generally destined for race bikes, such as titanium, the new "eight and a half" is able to deliver maximum power of 80 HP and boast an impressive maximum torque value of 80 Nm at 5,000 rpm, with 90% of the torque already available at 3,750 rpm, in keeping with the tradition of the Mandello twin, which has always offered excellent drive even at very low revs. This is the first Moto Guzzi small block engine that can easily reach 8000 rpm, an aspect that showcases its modern and exuberant nature.

The way we ride big HP numbers aren't really needed.....too much HP and you are just going to get into trouble anyhow!
