I'm not crazy about the cafe styled version that Kawasaki has been selling here for a couple of years, but I really like the looks of this:

Oh yeah.  That's sweet.  Would look even better with the seat from the cafe version on it.

I was reading the "Cycle World" that came in the mail last week .   There is a comparison between the W 800 -vs- the RE 650 .   You should read the article before buying either on of them .    Apparently there is about $3,500 difference in price too.

I understand they are both desirable bikes !   Wink

MM and I saw the the current Cafe' W800 a couple weeks ago.....it is OK but not very exciting.

The proposed "classic" look is is far more appealing to me.

The good news is that I am currently "satiated" with the bikes I currently own, and I am not looking to buy anything! Wink

I like the looks and price of the older W650 way more than the W800.   RE wins this "shootout" for me.  I don't even need to read the article to know that.

Edit:  Okay I read the article and ralize that there is a new version of the W800 that will look more like the original W650.  That's a good thing, but they are still pricey.

FYI,  that is a picture of the W650 which was only sold in the states in 2000/2001.

I'm not going to knock the RE due to the price, but the extra money for the w-800 might be worth it if you intended to keep it long term ,never having to adjust or replace the cam chain  could end up being cheaper in the long run, if replacement on the RE required getting into the center cases.

I guess don't know enough about the technicalities of the the bike to say much about it. But it does look nice.
