Picked up an '05 S40 with good bones. Runs/drives, but has a few things I'm going to be sorting out. My other ride is a '72 Honda CB450, I've done quite a bit to it in terms of making it reliable, so tinkering and troubleshooting isn't an issue for me. First off, I sourced an air filter from Ryca since the previous owner had TAPED a Uni filter to the carb, went with the "pancake" style since the stock airbox is AWOL. No speedo. No front brake on the bike. The sight glass is cracked on the reservoir. I have the caliper/line/pads, just need to replace the reservoir and reinstall. No tail light, bought a replacement with license bracket from Amazon. Will be wiring that in shortly. Solo seat in metal with no springs, I aim to put a proper solo seat with padding on. The biggest issue is that they painted EVERYTHING flat black. Forks, rotor, jug, case, wiring...... EVERY. THING. *sigh* The upside is that it was $800 for the bike with title and it came with a '87 Savage frame minus tank/engine with a title as well(possible street tracker build later). Question I have at the moment is what grips will work with the stock throttle housing. There are currently some black, spike end Amazon specials on there and they look like garbage. I tried a set from Amazon that were a little more my style. Regular black with rubber inserts, but they didn't fit into the housing with the starter/kill switch/hazards. Other advice is also greatly accepted as I'm new to the platform.
ETA: The wiring is definitely getting sorted through and dressed up. Forgot to mention that and the exhaust welds are a joke. Plus a missing bottom bolt at the jug.
