Ordered my spacer today!

For others, here is the quick link to DBM's how to thread along with the art number of the new bearing you will need:

http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1561964431

Per DBM's thread, I found a suitable bearing on eBay for $16 (delivered).  The vendor is Quality Bearings Belts & Chains, Lexington, KY 40509 (www.qualitybearingsbeltsandchain.com).  The bearing is a 5305-2RS, item number 111730106826.  This is an extremely inexpensive, Chinese bearing.  A similar SKF bearing costs about $112.  Generally, I wouldn’t bite on a deal like this.  I would be skeptical of the quality (you get what you pay for).  But I figured it would be worth $16 to try the mod out.  If it works good, I might consider springing for the gold standard bearing.

I installed mine last week.  It seems to work well.  I used a Japanese JAF bearing I found on Amazon for $24 shipped.

EDIT:  Wish I would have ordered another bearing at that price.  They are selling for $82 now!

Yeah, I found a NOS high quality on Ebay for $15. Very nice!
Good place to look.
Don't really trust a no-name Chinesium bearing.

So....is the bearing in DBM's link not what I should have gotten?

Armen, do you have a link or part number to the bearing you recommend if what I ordered is not something you would recommend/trust? I'll pony up another $15 if it means the difference between junk and trustworthy.

It was the last one. Just punch in the bearing code into Ebay and look for one that wasn't made by angry crippled Chinese child prison labor.

Def not the last one. You want a 2RS, a double rubber shield.

Thanks Armen,  I snagged this one.  Will get the project done here soon after the non-Chinese sweat camp labor built bearing gets here and get the core back to you.

Well...I ordered the WJB bearing and what arrived is a Chinese HBC bearing. Now I have two Chinese bearings.  Is it really that critical or is this HBC good enough for this purpose and someone that puts ~1000 miles/year on the bike?  If this HBC is junk, it'll go back as I read further that this seller tends to do this with other customers, replacing one brand for another despite what they advertised and was ordered by the customer.

Eh, maybe run it and check it periodically?

Does HBC stand for "Hangover Bearing Company"?

Is there a quality source (not Amazon or Ebay) but a direct seller of bearings?
I would like to buy a good quality Japanese made bearing nsk, koyo or whatever. I don't mind spending $40 to 60. for it.
