They said it couldn't be done - S&S carb install

I have pretty much finished up with installation and initial tuning of the S&S Super E carburetor. It’s a true 40mm conventional carburetor and not nearly as sophisticated as the stock 35.5 mm constant velocity Mikuni. But I like to be different, and I also am a big fan of WOT performance. After flow testing carburetors it was obvious to me that the S&S had the potential to beat the socks off the stocker at WOT performance. It didn’t disappoint me.
The S&S dropped the second-gear 4K to 7K time by .17 seconds. I’m very satisfied with that. It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s more in it. It’s very rich right now and I suspect I might be able to improve the acceleration a bit if I go down a couple of sizes on the main jet.
It’s a thirty-year-old carburetor. Here’s a shot of the installation. I think it looks pretty good.

If you're wondering about the fun factor, this link takes you to a vid of running through the gears and granny shiftin. As you can see, it's a fun scoot to play on.

I don't think drivability is an issue. Here's a vid of some 5th gear roll-ons.

It runs pretty good but still has a couple of hiccups. At very low throttle openings between 3 and 4 thousand rpm it tends to go way rich, to the point of stumbling. Open the throttle and the stumble goes away completely. The idle is also a bit rough. Other than that, it runs very well for a first attempt.
When I first installed the carb, I had it set up with a 28 Intermediate Jet (IJ), a 62 Main jet (MJ), and a 100 Air Bleed (AB). It’s an old carb that was previously modified for a ThunderJet, so it has an adjustable AB (utilizes Mikuni MJ for AB). That didn’t run well at all. It had a terrible stumble any time you tried to accelerate, but at WOT it ran fine. It looked like the IJ and MJ had too much overlap so I started increasing the AB. It immediately got better and continued to improve as I kept throwing in larger ABs. When I got up to about a 150 it stopped improving. I’m thinkin I need a new hole or two in the emulsion tube. Anybody out there know anything about emulsion tube mods?
I think I can clean up the rough idle by drilling a small hole in the throttle plate (an old hot rodder trick used on engines with low idle vacuum). Right now, I think the throttle plate is open too much and overlaps the transfer ports at idle.
Things are lookin up.
Sorry for not placing multiple hyperlinks in one post, I just couldn't get it to stick.

Wow! Really nice job and a beautiful bike. It looks brand new!
Two questions: What is the insulator spacer made of and what is the small meter up to the right beside the tachometer?

Kamelryttarn, thanks for the kudos.
The insulator is made from a phenolic material. S&S makes them in two thicknesses, 1/4" and 3/8". S&S part numbers 16-0491 & 16-0497.
The small meter to the right of the tachometer is an oil pressure gage, 0-15 psi, liquid filled. I have it tapped in to the head cover. It is a Marshall part number LB00015. You can view the details of the install here.
