Should have got a mid 70s or earlier T100 and it wouldn't weigh 500lbs.   Grin

I had a SX-650 (1971 model) , Yamaha's assure to a Triumph Bonnie .    I don't remember it being heavy .... just fast and the low end pulling of them fat pistons .   It had a 7500 red-line .

Yea , My friend on his Honda 750 could leave me going through the gears but on a 5th gear roll-on he would have to down shift two gears just to keep up !   Grin

O-YEA , the grin factor from that machine would tend to SPIN a persons perspective .
Really that was my first "World-Class" do anything bike .  Smiley

I would think the new endfields twins would do the same thing .  Huh

MM,
Just for the record. From Yamaha's manual, XS 650E 467# dry. As you say it didn't seem heavy, maybe low C.G.

I fitted lower handlebars to it, not so "sit up and beg" God knows why I sold it :'(.

My fillings are gone...from my Savage!!

I had a 71 TR6R Tiger.  Single carb, shifter on the right, the brake pedal on the left and high beam switch on the headlight.  It was awesome and didn't ride any worse than my LS650.  My only real complaint was that I had to work on it an hour for every hour and a half I rode it.

So , the 440# Dry / 460# wet weight of the twins is about where it should be ?

If it had Belt drive and Mag wheels I'd be thinking , "give up the Guzzi for one of them " .    Or at least go try one of them on for size !   Wink

I'm looking for some-one's ride report .

A few things would keep me from buying a RE, without looking at one:

- Dealer is 2.5 hours away
- Parts availability
- Unknown reliability
- Lack of decent website/forum to interact with other owners

Maybe after I saw one, sat on one, I may feel differently.

The price is compelling, at just $5799.
It does look vier nice and I like that it is a standard, they are in short supply but perhaps more are coming.  It's about time.
I would love to ride one to see how it feels.

Lancer , I want to know how "SMOOTH" it is when you finally get straddle of one of them .  Huh

And if the gears are really like shifting or just another one of them ... rem, rem , rem , with no real interstate gear.

This months edition of Cycle World has 2 articles that apply to this topic. One is about both of the Royal Enfield 650 s and the Second is a comparison with the R/E 650 and the Kawi W800. I know some will enjoy reading these articles on these retro twins. Enjoy !
