Well vers - there's really nothing to defend.

Since there is no "rule".  It was a request from Biden.

But how convenient that the GOP followed that "rule", huh?

Regardless of how you twist it, Biden set the rule.

LOL - again, there is no "rule".  It was Biden addressing Congress.  Any idea what else he said during that address?  If so, why are those things "rules"?

Too easy vers - the GOP was just looking for an out and they had to go all the way back to 1992 to find one - and it's a sh!tty one at that.

Nice try, but the precedent is set.

no crying when a Democratic Congress holds up a nomination from a republican president

There have been plenty nominees from Republican Presidents held up by Democratic senates. And also the opposite. That's just politics.

As far as a "rule" goes. The rules that the Senate operates under are whatever "rules" the members of the senate at any given time agree are the "rules".

That's why they spend so much time and energy arguing about, procedure and precedent, and "just wait and see what we're gonna do to your a*s, when we have the votes, if you guys dare do THAT!"
Whatever "THAT" happens to be.

Nah - I'd have to go with the GOP owning a lion's share of the hypocrisy today.

Likely a correct assessment..There is an ample supply of hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle in that particular den of thieves, however. And tomorrow is another day.

Why are you squirming so much?  Sure, there's no written "rule" if you please, but there's precedence and you've set it.

Go ahead, squirm some more.

So, if Biden set the precedent in 1992,... and it was followed with Obama,... why isn't it the same with Trump?...

He is the least popular President in modern history and won with a minority.
I see no mandate there.

Thanks vers, but there's no squirming here.  Like I said, there's nothing to defend, nor need to squirm.

But it is fun to see the GOP grab onto a speech from Biden from 1992 to justify their blockage.

Knowing you, I assume you meant to say the "most unpopular"...

But I would dispute the no mandate point. Look at any election map by county and see the vast stretches of red with blue points in-between. That means something.

Trump supporters endure verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, property damage and real violence based on their chosen candidate yet they still support a man who under any other circumstance they wouldn't give two cents about. Why? Because they loathe you that much. That's how un-American your leftist views are. The idea that so many believe the phrase that Donald Trump is not the hero we deserve but the hero we need should give you pause.

The fact huge areas of the nation puts up with all that abuse just to meteorically flip you the bird is in fact a mandate.

Yes, thanks... I have corrected it
But I would dispute the no mandate point. Look at any election map by county and see the vast stretches of red with blue points in-between. That means something.
It means Trump won places where no one lives.
Corporations aren't people,.. and neither is dirt.

I'll assume you meant "metaphorically"  Cool
I do believe Trump is a metaphoric bird-flip.
...and that's very sad. ...and very petty.
Governance is more important than that.
